Technical data: Photo taken with an Olympus SLR film camera and Zuiko 300mm f4.5 lens, manual camera exposure mode, spot metering in-camera. Approximate exposure 1/500 second at f5.6 with Kodak T-Max 400 film exposed at EI 400 and processed normally. No lens filters were used. Film was scanned using a Nikon Coolscan series film scanner. Photo file was routinely optimized with Photoshop on a Mac.

Comments: I was wandering a local beach looking for recreational type family photos when I noticed this very young boy holding his father's hand and struggling a little to keep up.

I used a long lens so I wouldn't intrude on the scene and waited until the group was a little past me so I could show the boy's little hand reaching up to join his father's. By exposing mostly for the bright-ish background water I was able to make a slight silhouette of the family.  HC
