Technical data: Photo taken with hand held Olympus digital SLR and Zuiko 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 lens using existing outdoor light and white reflector; auto White Balance, ISO 200. Approximate exposure 1/250 second at f8. No lens filters were used. Film was scanned using a Minolta Dimage series film scanner. Photo file was routinely optimized with Photoshop on a Mac, skin tones warmed up slightly.

Comments: This photo was made outdoors on a bright day. The woman was seated on the ground in tree shade. The fat, even light was mostly from a white reflector I positioned in front of and slightly to the side of the subject.

Reflectors can be annoyingly bright to subjects so I have them close their eyes and open them only for the second or two it takes to snap a picture. I used a high camera position, perhaps two or three feet higher than the subject, to get a different effect and to cut out some distracting background.  HC
